From La Aurora airport

La Aurora International Airport (GUA) is in Zone 13, 6.4 km (4 miles) south of central Guatemala City and 25 km (16 miles) from Antigua Guatemala in a straight line. The road distance is longer than the straight line.

Shuttle operators sell the transfer in advance. GuateGo lists a shared shuttle from La Aurora to Antigua from USD 20 per person, about 2 hours, with departures every day from 6:00 AM to 7:30 PM, and a private shuttle for USD 52, about 1 hour 30 minutes. It works with prepaid bookings only and recommends booking at least 48 hours ahead.

Uber states that it operates in Guatemala City 24 hours a day and offers GUA airport pickups. It publishes no fixed fare to Antigua; the app quotes the price.

By public bus

The public buses to Antigua are built from retired North American school buses. Travelers call them chicken buses, a name locals do not use and some find offensive. Guatemala Explorer gives the departure point as the Trébol in Guatemala City, a bus about every 15 to 20 minutes, a fare of GTQ 20 and about 1 hour 30 minutes to Antigua. It advises against riding after 4:00 PM.

The bus is the cheapest way. With bags from the airport, a booked shuttle or an Uber goes door to door.

From Antigua to the coffee farms

Finca La Azotea says it is 10 minutes from Antigua's central park, by tuk tuk, car, motorcycle, bicycle or on foot. Its one-hour coffee tour runs at 10:00 AM, 11:00 AM, 2:00 PM, 3:00 PM and 4:00 PM for GTQ 100.

De La Gente's coffee tour includes the shuttle. It picks up at La Ermita de Santa Lucía church on the west side of Antigua at 8:45 AM and 1:45 PM and drives to San Miguel Escobar, where growers lead the tour; USD 45 per person, 3.5 to 4 hours in all, booked at least the day before.

Finca San Sebastián is at Km 67 on the road to Calderas in San Miguel Dueñas. Its site describes a coffee tour but states no schedule or price; call the farm before going.
