The town of Tequila is about 65 km (40 miles) from Guadalajara on the Vallarta highway, 45 minutes to 1 hour by car. You can also go by the Jose Cuervo Express train on Saturdays or by Tequila Plus bus from the old central bus station.
How to ride the Jose Cuervo Express
The Jose Cuervo Express is a Saturday day trip of about 11 hours between Guadalajara and the town of Tequila. You ride the train one way and a bus the other, and the day includes the La Rojeña distillery, the agave fields and free time in Tequila. Tickets run from MXN 3,250 to MXN 4,810 depending on the class.
