Salento
Salento, in Quindío, is the most visited base in the coffee region; its farms are a walk or a Willys jeep ride from the main square. Filandia is another Quindío town in the area, and Buenavista, in the south of the department, has the San Alberto estate.
Manizales
Hacienda Venecia is on the Autopista del Café outside Manizales, and Hacienda Guayabal is 3 km (1.9 miles) out of Chinchiná on the road to Pereira, both in Caldas. Both have rooms.
Medellín
Coffee country starts southwest of Medellín, in Antioquia. Café de la Cima in Fredonia sells transport from Medellín for its day tour; in Jardín, farther south, Finca Margus picks visitors up in town.
Minca
Minca is a village in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta above Santa Marta. Its farms grow coffee on the mountain slopes and run short tours through the day.
Bogotá
Bogotá is not in the coffee region, but farms in Cundinamarca, southwest of the city in Fusagasugá and La Mesa, run coffee tours that fit into a day trip.

Two coffee farms southwest of Bogotá make a day trip: Hacienda Coloma in Fusagasugá, 59 km (37 miles) from the city, and El Nido Andino near La Mesa, 54 km (34 miles) away. A day there costs COP 60,000 to COP 75,000 per adult before transport.
Colombia's coffee region: how to plan a visit
Colombia's coffee region is the hill country of Caldas, Quindío and Risaralda, around Manizales, Armenia and Pereira, each with its own airport. Base yourself in Salento, Filandia or Manizales; farm tours there cost COP 60,000 to COP 210,000 and last 90 minutes to about 2 hours 45 minutes.
Medellín to Salento
Salento is reached from Medellín by bus from the Terminal del Sur, by a flight to Pereira or Armenia and then 50 km (31 miles) or 25 km (16 miles) by road, or by car south on Ruta 25. Coffee farms in Fredonia, near Manizales and around Salento can break the trip.
